Scholarships

The David L. Smylie Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is named in memory of Liberty Road Recreation Council's past president and basketball commissioner. Mr. Smylie, who passed away in 2014, was a Political Science Graduate of Jackson State University, where he played football. As a decorated federal employee at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, he was interested in family, politics, black history, education, sports and all things Randallstown. The Smylie family: Judy, David II and Audrey carry the legacy of David through this scholarship.

The David L. Smylie Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund is a Community Service Scholarship. This scholarship program was established by Liberty Road Recreation Council, Inc. to be given to a volunteer youth of the Greater Randallstown Community. To compete in the scholarship program, the applicant must be a senior in high school and entering college in the Fall of this year or the Spring of next year. Applicants must also be currently an active volunteer in any Liberty Road Recreation Council, Inc. program and complete the application process.
